While electric cars were still a novelty it was often pointed out that they are not well suited to road trips since there are not enough places to charge them. This has changed a lot in recent years since the cars have gotten better and there are more charging stations.
Cars on our list are suited to road trips regardless of where you’re going and how long you plan to stay and they are rated based on comfort and how easy it is to charge the car and keep on driving.
Tesla Model 3
This is the first Best Electric Cars that was made and marketed as an electric vehicle to be used on long road trips (it’s actually known as the long-range version). A full charge is good for 315 miles and a 15-minute charge will cover a ride of 175 miles.
If you plan to take this card on a long drive across the border keep in mind that you need to have the proper documents when driving abroad. The international driver association will issue you a permit and you always need to have an ID with you.
Tesla Model X
The Tesla Model X is an excellent choice if you’re planning a family trip since the car fits up to 7 adults. It has a range of 360 miles on a single charge. The car also comes with 88 cubic feet of cargo space, and you’re going to need them if you’re planning a long road trip with 7 people on board.
The car has a 17-inch display, wireless gaming set you can use from every seat, a wireless port and a USB type C port for every seat as well, and an audio system with noise-canceling features.
Hyundai Kona Electric
There aren’t many electric SUVs out there but this one has all the features of both and it can travel 258 miles on a single charge. This makes it a great choice for up to 5 passenger trips with a lot of luggage and plenty of room.
The battery charges up to 80 percent within 54 minutes. It also allows for wireless charging within the car; a ten-inch display and forward collision assistance. The car also accepts Apple CarPay and Android Auto. It’s also one of the least expensive cars we’ve mentioned.
Chevrolet Bolt EV
Bolt continues to rival other brands that are more focused on their electronic vehicle lineup. It has a driving range of about 259 miles with a single charge and the car can fit up to 5 people with just below 17 cubic feet of space for cargo.
It takes up to 30 minutes to charge the car enough for a 100 miles ride which makes it easy to find the next charging station during a road trip and to plan your stops and rest accordingly. There are two versions of this car available at the moment known as entry-level and premium versions. They also differ in price.
